1987 Syncro Westfalia TDI Full Camper
This is a really nice driving conversion. The AHU with the Malone 1.5 tune puts out 122 HP for easy freeway driving and merging. I don’t get stuck behind big trucks and still average 28mpg. All of the mechanicals are in perfect working order. The van is very easy to drive around town with the new decoupler.
The interior is pretty clean. Installed Previa seats for my back. They sit a tad higher but they are thin so my legs are not cramped below the steering wheel. Original seats come with the van.
The Van is ready to go places I don’t have time to go. Nothing is forcing the sale; I just don’t use the van much. My left hip has some arthritis, my back seems to like herniating, and may look for an automatic.
Might consider partial trades for Eurovan weekender pop top or an automatic Vanagon poptop weekender. (Yep, I’m getting older.)

Issues:
Some seam rust (see photos)
AC is not connected. Need to make new hoses to connect to TDI compressor.
Could use new canopy but works fine
Fridge is useless as most are.
Original chrome bumpers have some dings and missing a couple of end caps.
As you can see, the big stuff is done, lots of room for adding little bits, but nothing from keeping you in town. . …
