1987 VW Syncro Vanagon with 96.5k miles on original engine. Lots of parts have been replaced. This syncro has not been modified and has the rear locker! 4spd manual drive.
It runs great! Odometer works! I’ve driven this van up to Utah and California from Tucson several times in the past year and have been slowly building a camper interior inside. I’ve been comfortable two weeks at a time on the road. Only thing missing is the AC is not currently blowing cold air. Mechanics have always been taken care of by Stuttgart autohaus. Anything that broke was replaced.
Has porta potty, Webasto gas heater, electrical, water system. I used plastic bins for storage. Comes with the 100W solar panel and I have another 100W flexible panel that I intended on putting on the Skybox. House battery also charges off the alternator through a solenoid. She doesn’t go fast, but she goes. I’ve replaced almost everything mechanical underneath except for the shocks. AC works, however the ducting doesn’t want to stay on the ceiling anymore.
She has seam rust as is expected. It’s probably all the original paint. I have the seating that the van came with, as well as the interior panels I took off to put in the woodwork and wool insulation. I have another van I’m spending money and time with so this one isn’t getting used anymore and needs to find a new owner to keep projecting her. Does have a few rust areas up front underneath that should be taken care of at some point.
