1987 VW Vanagon GL Westfalia Camper Price: $17,500

We have loved spending time in Ruby Goose over the last 5 and half years, but it’s time for another family or couple to take advantage of this fabulous rig.

We are the third owner of the van which has 63,XXX miles on the odometer. According to the second owner the engine and instrument panel were replaced by the first owner, so we don’t know the total mileage. The odometer works, but the speedometer jumps around at lower speeds; and the gas gauge is finicky.

The second owner had the engine completely reconditioned in 2006 or so. In 2011 the entire van was repainted with the addition of the silver stripe. Any rust was cut out and replaced by a new fabricated panel. The van was well cared for with regular maintenance and repair.

We have continued to keep up with regular oil changes and maintenance:

Ball joints (2014)

New Tires, Hakka C 215/65R16 (2014)
New Hook-Up boxes (2014)
New starter battery (2015)
Front pads, rotors, calipers (2016)
Gas tank has been resealed (2018)

As with all vans there are things that need some attention – the pop top has some wear and tear and the paint job is showing some age – but overall the van is still in really great shape, runs strong and is ready for its next adventure.
