A well running VW camper van that has many years left in it. We’ve owned it for 6 years and lived in it off and on. Last summer it successfully completed a 14 hour round trip drive. We drive it often in the summer and it sits in a garage in the winter. We haven’t had any major issues. We change the oil religiously and keep it relatively clean. My mom recently visited and did a deep clean on it (I’m 30 years old)…
The propane stove works perfect. However, we were never able to get the fridge to run on propane (sounds like most refrigerators from this generation have issues with the propane). It does run on the battery or when plugged in. The pop top is in great condition and has a new gasket.
It does have one crux…. The odometer doesn’t work. I could lie and say it has 90,000 miles on it (like the person who we bought it from said) but I won’t (too late now). However, I do know that the motor is relatively new and in good shape. It has only stopped running once. A road was flooded and I charged through it. When I pulled over, after it stopped running, I looked under it and saw that a wire was disconnected. I reconnected it and was good to go!
We’ve both moved to Laramie for graduate school and have come to the realization that we can’t use it as much as we’d like (and we are now poor….). Its currently in Victor, ID and we’ll be headed up there somewhat often. It would be great to sell it then.
