$12,900 or best offer. 1981 Volkswagen Vanagon L Westfalia Camper Van. 124,427 original miles. I have copies of my extensive investment in the vehicle as well. It spent it’s life in California up until I bought it and it’s lived in Michigan the last 4 years. It’s always been stored in a garage and has never been driven in the winter or on salty roads. We’ve loved this van and it’s given us plenty of enjoyment. We’ve had fun working on it, camping in it and it brings a smile to everyone’s face wherever we go. We’ve met so many people that come up to look and share memories of van’s they’ve owned. We’re sad to see it go but our camping family has outgrown the space.
The body is in great condition and is 99% rust free. The vehicle has never given us any trouble mechanically. I’ve invested a lot to get it to that point.
Includes Thetford portable toilet. Pop-up tent is new 3 window tent. Custom led lighting above kitchen. New European faucet, new sink pump, new 12 volt battery, new rubber on topper, new curtains and leather tie backs. Includes bus depot larger version Ezy Awning and add-a-room rear hatch shelter which is a tent room that connects to the rear of the open hatch. Also includes Bentley manual.
The turn signal stalk needs to be manually turned off in one direction and the speedo is slightly sticky at 0-5 MPH.
The following repairs have been made:
New fuel lines, new brake switch, bearings inner front & diff, wheel bearings, rotors, pads, accelerator cable, valve covers/gasket, starter bushing, misc. vacuum lines, fuel filter, oil pressure switch, wheel hubs, cylinders, axle joints & boots, tie rods, steering rack boot, calipers, shift bushings, brake backer plates sand blasted and zinc coated, replaced bumper end caps, fuel tank. There are numerous small things like screws, fuses and I’m sure dozens of other things I’ve left out. All major work was done by Monks Motors in Waterford, MI. They are an excellent service shop that specializes in foreign model vehicles and Vanagons. Can send more pictures if interested.
