NO RUST!
A few exterior cosmetic blemishes that make this van a “sleeper”, but overall it is in excellent condition. It drives strong, fast, smooth and quiet. It has given us zero issues in our 1 year of ownership. The engine install is considered very “clean”. This van is practically rust free.
About 25k ago (2010) the low mileage Subaru motor was married up to a freshly rebuilt automatic transmission by North Westy in the Seattle area. The power steering was also upgraded. The wiring harness and entire electrical system was completely gone through by Small Car. I have complete, detailed and color coded wiring schematics for the Van. I’ve since had the Van maintained by vanagon specialists Integrity Auto and German Transaxle here in Bend.
Some of the plastic cladding / skirting around the van has been blemished over the years. The clear coat on the rear portions of the van is beginning to fatigue, but the nose has been repainted at some point, is rock-chip free and beautiful. The windows are all in good shape and I suspect that the seals/gaskets were replaced at some point. There is one small ding along the left side body, and another on the rear right bumper cap, where the previous owner brushed a tree. Aside from that the body is 99% straight with no accidents.
The pop-top is in good condition inside and out. The exterior is holding its color well and the interior mattress is in near perfect condition. The single screen canvas is in good shape and was recently replaced by the previous owner, as I suspect the exterior seal was also.
The interior is mostly original but in excellent shape. All 7 seats, head rests and seat belts are there. There are no rips, stains or smells. The upgraded stereo sounds good and all the doors and windows and locks function properly, however the power locks have been intentionally disabled. The GoWesty floor mats are newer and still clean. Both front seats swivel 180′. The headliner / ceiling is flawless.
There’s nothing immediate that this van requires. It does not leak anything. Our family has decided to move into a more traditional mini-van. More pictures available on request.
