Unfortunately I am selling my Westy…

1982 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia for sale. Have owned it since January of 2019, has been an absolutely amazing van for us. As you can see from the pictures the body is a little rough but if you are looking for a van that you can throw your stuff in and go camping this weekend, this is the van. All yearly engine maintenance was performed by Mike Schmitt of Wagenschmitt in Seattle, oil and filter were changed every two thousand miles.

There are three known issues:

1) There is a leak from the main seal (?) on the back of the transmission. I was told to leave it and address this when the clutch needs to be replaced, it does not leak a substantial amount of oil and the van does not require top up in between oil changes.
2) The left blinker relay needs to be changed. It works most of the time so I have not yet ordered one.
3) The ignition switch is getting loose. This is a common issue, I have ordered a replacement and will install it when it comes or it will go with the van if it is sold prior to the switches arrival.

The following was done to the van (there is more that I either don’t have receipts for or have forgotten)

Stock refer removed and shelf kit installed.
All “camper” (not including refer) items serviced and made operable by Peace Vans in 2019.
New three window canvas installed by peace vans in 2019, still in perfect shape.
ARB Awning installed
New suspension installed by One Van in 2021
New tires in 2020 (less that 10k on these)
Seats from a 1984 Vanagon-Much more comfortable than the originals
New Bluetooth stereo and new speakers installed.
Tons of sound dampening insulation installed when first purchased.

There are various accessories that can be sold with the van at an additional cost if desired. These include WeBoost cell signal booster, Yeti GoalZero solar generator and solar panels, carpets, etc.

The Van will come with manuals, spare parts, oh shit kit, original drapes for front and slider door and any other items I have that are westy specific.

As far as I know I am the 3rd owner, I bought the van with 99k miles. I have the story of the last two owners (take it with a grain of salt) that were supposedly Father then son. I was told by the mechanics at One Van that the motor was rebuilt sometime recently but I do not have documentation for that nor did I confirm it with Wagenschmitt. The motor does pull strong for a van of its age.

We used this van as it was meant to be used. Lot’s of camping trips to Eastern Oregon, the Washington coast and even Idaho. We love it and will miss having it in our lives.

Call or text is the best way to reach me, leave a name and number and I will get back to you. Price is negotiable within reason. No help needed selling it.
