We are selling our beloved Westfalia, (Bernie) in a Burnt Orange, faded paint as it is, not so pretty, but we just came back from a trip to Mt. Shasta, with NO ISSUES. It has just over 130k miles, and about 9k on a rebuilt (documented receipts) from Fred’s Garage in Redwood City.
No time now, but we’ll have pictures up hopefully by this week. However, you are welcome to call with any questions for us to answer. A sweet vintage VW Camper with 90% of all the features, that are in working order. Here are some details;
1; REBUILT ENGINE with approximately 9k miles on it now
2; SMOG CERTIFICATION completed on jan 2015
3; CLEAN TITLE, and REGISTERED to NOV 2015
4; COMPLETELY ROAD-WORTHY, just came back from Mt. Shasta, no issues what-so-ever
5; ‘EURO’ model, (from what we were told by the prior owner), some minor differences
6; Pop top camper, sleeps 4, in good working order, no rips in canvas, NEW CAMPER TOP, AND LUGGAGE BIN SEALS, recently installed.
7; STOVE, INTERNAL HEATER, FRIDGE, SINK, are all functional-
8; ALL CABINETS, AND STORAGE are fully functioning, no broken doors, etc.
9; SEATS FULLY FUNCTIONAL, some weathering, on back seat bench, front seats are fine-
10; GLASS; all intact and functional, DOORS-windows lock and work fine-
11; HEATER-BLOWER FAN works fine, and vents circulate fresh air, or heat-
12; ENGINE -TRANSMISSION are in excellent working order, no leaking, smoking or eminent obvious repairs needed.
13; BODY; in good shape, has its share of parking lot bobo’s, scratches, minor battle scars, no structural rust, has various areas of surface rust and oxidation from scratches, and paint chipping-
14; EXTRA’S; AUXILIARY BATTERY installed under driver’s seat that powers the Stereo, and can be modified to power any electrical outlet in the van. Has after-market CD-AM-FM Stereo installed, and works fine.
i’ll get some pix up soon. This Westy is NOT a showroom camper, more so, cosmetically challenged, well used, maintained accordingly, and never abused, like alot of them are, – and -cheaper in price. This is a great turn-key, ROAD WORTHY driver-camper, semi-project, if you want it in really nice shape, with no serious $$ needed, as its basically ‘sorted out’.
that’s about it for most of the critical issues on these ‘Westy’s’ from what i have learned.
