’86 VW 4WD Syncro “Tin Top”. Water-cooled, injected 2litre/strong runner, shifts fine. Body about an 8. Looks okay going down the road, but could use body/paint work some day if you want it cherry. No serious rust. Newish 8-ply tires/spare. Large, fold-out bed, a couple of cabinets, 12v/110 fridge/solar panels/isolated battery. Interior decent, sheepskins on front, no tears or serious stains underneath. Dash-mat–no cracks. Sunroof. Stereo. Couple of small pokes in the headliner (my bad from roof rack install), not too serious. Newish quilted curtains. New rear hatch bug screen. Heavy duty steel bumpers front and rear w/receiver. Newish muffler. Yakima roof bars. Removable bike rack in front. Good glass all around. I’ve had the Syncro about 10 years. Bought from a widow and didn’t get much history, but it’s run like it’s been rebuilt sometime. Just got back from Baja–ran perfectly and I’d leave again with it tomorrow. We’re just ready for something with a bit more room for travel/camping. Check out GoWesty or The Samba sites to see what these are worth. VW didn’t make Syncros for long and they’re sought after. $8500 is a deal and it won’t lose value.
