1985 V.W. Westfalia High top. Subaru 2.5.

Her name is Velma. Built for living and long distances. The only thing that slows her down are the inevitable gas station conversations and people asking to take a photo.

So it’s finally time to do the thing I said I never would, sell my 1985 V.W. Westfalia and build a Sprinter. My wife is pregnant so A.C., space, and car seat anchors have become priority. This van has been a labor of love for many years. I grew up around westfalias and have owned several. When I started this project it was with the intention of shipping it to Europe and driving to Asia. No expenses was spared and all the upgrades are thoughtful and practical. I comfortably lived and traveled in her for a year in the states but for the last year or two, travel has been mostly 2-5 day trips.

I will attempt to list all the upgrades and maintenance but I’m sure to miss some things. If you are local and want to come see it, I’m open most days. I have receipts for most everything, if you want more info on a specific part let me know.

Mechanical
Subaru 2.5 R.MWesty/Kep conversion. 7k miles from last motor/ tranny out rebuild Including clutch /standard tune up. Plugs, cable etc. Completely dry motor, not one drip of oil.
Low Pro oil pan/upgrade dipstick tube
Snorkel
Go Westy Big Brake kit on the front (Audi a4 disc brakes)
New Drum Brake Wheel Cylinders on the back. Rear pads have about 65% left.
All 4 Bilstein Heavy Duty shocks.( only a few hundred miles)
New steering rack/control arm bushings.
Blue tooth OBD scanner that gives live engine data to an iPad mounted on drivers sun visor.
Big shot shifter (one of my favorite upgrades, shift like a modern car)
15 inch mercedes wheels with General Grabber AT/2 80% left
New fule tank, pump, lines
New radiator

Outside
North American high top. I use it for storage but can be used as bed, The bulk head storage has locking door. Fully insulated.
Road shower
Rocky Mountain Westy front bumper system with light bar and push bar.
Go Westy rear bumper system with both wing arms, ladder, storage box, spare wheel carrier with storage plate, 2 rotopax gas cans, one rotopax fresh water can with spout , hitch step and large led light.

Can run heater fridge and lights easily through night and morning without starting van or sun.

4 well place usb plugs throughout van.
Led color changing lights.
