This is a rare gem of a camper. The list of new and improved features is endless so I will just mention the most important.
Powerful new 165 hp 2.5l subaru engine with brand new short block, rebuilt heads, new timing belt, idlers, tensioner, water pump, oil seals, oil pump, spark plugs, ignition wires. New ca legal catalytic converter, o2 sensor, exhaust system, performance muffler.
All new front suspension parts including billstein project zwo shocks, new ball joints, bushings, addco heavy duty sway bar with new bushings, rebuilt power steering rack, new wheel bearings, upgraded rebuilt 1988 brake calipers with new semi metallic pads. Rebuilt rear brakes, billstein project zwo shocks.
Front suspension aligned by highly regarded alignment shop. Rear axles with new gkn cv joints, cv boots.
Automatic transmission rebuilt with less than 200 miles driven, working perfectly.
Almost new bfgoodrich ta ko tires, new hubcaps. New starting battery.
Interior was remodeled to make vehicle much more useful. Fridge (not very useful) was eliminated in favor of highly organized and convenient storage space including brand new cabinets made out of indestructible baltic birch plywood, stained and covered with several coats of varnish, drawers only with heavy duty ball bearing slide and beautiful pulls. New table with nice formica top can be installed in seconds and now rests safely above instead of rattling and blocking storage underneath.
New water pump, superior faucet. Rebuilt propane tank fully filled recently. Burners working perfectly. Brand new water fill cover with key outside
Front seats were replaced with superior late model type in excellent shape. Floor was covered with nice vinyl tiles.
Very useful custom built cup holders with storage installed in front.
New bluetooth pioneer radio, new front and rear speakers installed (wire was added to rear speakers to make them fully functional)
Whole interior was thoroughly cleaned.
Pop top tent was repaired and is in good functional condition. Skylight was repaired and functioning perfectly, new seal installed, plastic is in good shape, no cracks.
Pop top and storage rack seals were replaced with new.
Pair of very bright led driving lights were installed into lower grill openings.
Vanagon body was repaired and freshly painted original color (2 stage process). All grills were painted black. All electrical wiring and lighting is fully functional. New battery.
Windshield with top tint and seal are new. Windshield nozzles and wipers are new.
Vanagon passed smog check recently, registered in ca. It has been driven on the street and freeway without any issues and is pleasure to drive with enough power to keep up with modern cars and easily climb any mountain passes. Ready to go on a camping trip now.
