1982 VW Westfalia w/Subaru Engine Conversion
This Westfalia was converted to a EJ22 Subaru engine. A complete Kennedy Engineering Subaru Conversion kit was used to ensure the Westy was California smog legal. The Westy passed smog with no problems. The Subaru engine was disassembled; the heads were rebuilt, installed new piston rings, new timing belt, water pump, head bolts, shorten oil pan, new seals and gasket kit, etc. To monitor the engine performance, a set of VDO gauges and a Glowshift Tachometer was installed on the center console. The refrigerator and stove work perfect. The van runs strong and has plenty of power. During the conversion, the following parts were replaced: new Radiator, new coolant pipes and new clutch, New 6 ply tires, Trailer Hitch, Wooden floor, Two fluorescent interior lights, Alpine CD/Ipad/Aux player with new 6.5 and 6×9 Speakers — Great sound, Fresh Forest Green Paint, New Bumpers, New Mud Flaps. In early fall, I took a trip to Baja California without any issues.
Added a Set of Mercedes Benz 16X8 Wheels and Michelin tires. Two sets of tires available!
