This is a solid camper van. The little things like windows and doors all work, its been taken care of, especially since I have had it. I highly encourage to check it out if you are in the market for a Westy. I could ramble on and on about the good, but I find the bad has more value for the customer.
What makes this van not perfect is the obvious surface rust as shown in the pictures (I was told east coast origin). Underside / chassis has no cancer and is in great shape. The other issue is that the gas tank seals on top of tank are not 100% (common issue with old VW vans). This is a $90 part package on go westy, I just haven’t had the motivation to drop the tank in this heat and swap the seals out. As long as you don’t top off the gas tank to full capacity, you would never notice. The previous seller graciously failed to mention this, as I found out the first time I filled up. The AC fan works, and all hardware is there, however the AC pump is not hooked up. This is how I bought it, and haven’t needed to install it.
For a 81 Westy, this van is great. Come check it out for yourself.
Listed at $8000, not in any rush, and am willing to negotiate. Please don’t waste my and your time with low ball offers.
