Vanagon GL Full Camper Syncro 1987

The van is silver with grey interior. It looks very good inside and out and I have owned it for the past 15 years. I bought it in Spokane WA from the previous private owner but the van was originally exported from Germany to Canada and thus has a kilometer speedometer and odometer.

I had the somewhat larger 2.2 liter GoWesty engine installed at about 148,000 miles or about 38,000 miles and 9 years ago. Other upgrades include brighter headlight bulbs and relay, a third brake light, nose bra, rear shoulder harnesses, larger five spoke 15 inch wheels with somewhat wider but same height tires, stainless steel coolant system pipes and tinted window film aft of the front seats. I had the seams and other lower panel rust cut out and replaced with new metal and the van was mostly repainted at that time three years ago. It also has a newer Sony radio with iPod adapter. I have also recently replaced the skylight and pop top window screen.

Numerous mechanical parts have been replaced over the years including the AWD drive shaft to the front wheels, the power steering lines, brakes, belts, many hoses, clutch, pumps, gas tank and shocks. I think I have all service records for the past 15 years and many records from the two known previous owners. Those earlier records show that the transmission was replaced in 1995 when the van had about 93,000 km or 58,000 miles. There is also a 1997 service note that the van has a later transmission was a non-locking system.

The VIN is WV2ZB0251HG079922 and it is licensed in Illinois. The odometer reads about 285,500 kilometers (not miles) and this is about 6000 km lower than I think is correct because I had to have the odometer fixed after a trip to Utah. It quit working shortly after we left IL. So the van body and interior has about 180,000 miles on it but it looks nearly new and the engine has only about 38,000 miles on it.
