1989 VW Vanagon Westfalia in good condition. Automatic with A/C. I did a ton of work to this van, but another one came up that I just couldn’t turn down, so this one has to go.

Engine: Runs well. Makes good power. Heads and water pump replaced 6,000 miles ago. The following replaced within the last year: Fuel lines, most coolant hoses, belts, radiator, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, alternator harness, ECU, A/C compressor.

Chassis: Upgraded front brakes to SmallCar G60 big brake kit. New brake hoses all around. New rear drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders. Wheels upgraded to 16″ Mercedes C-class alloys fitted with Nokian WRC Vans. New VanCafe springs and Bilstein shocks. Poly steering rack bushings from T3.

Transmission: Shifts like it should. Trouble-prone stock ATF cooler replaced with billet heat sink from F.A.S. CV joints lubricated. There are a couple of small leaks that I have the seals for, but didn’t get around to replacing.

Body: Original paint, a few dings and minor rust spots here and there – but overall in pretty good shape. Additional sound insulation added to body (RAAMmat, 3M thinsulate, and ensolite). South African grill with new H4 headlights. Gary Lee rear rack.

Interior and camping gear: Refrigerator works on 12V and 120V. I couldn’t get the refrigerator to work on propane, but I didn’t try real hard either. Everything else works (stove, sink). New water lines and sink drain. Rear heater has been removed. A/C plenum removed for much improved A/C operation. Pop top has been refurbished (new paint and fasteners). Tent is original and has some rips in the screen.

This is a solid, well running van that is very fun to drive. It handles better than most Vanagon’s I’ve driven (and I’ve driven a lot). Get it before the summer’s over!
