This 1983 VW Vanagon camper was just brought down from the mild climate of Victoria B.C. It has but 217,700 kilometers or roughly 135,000 miles. It is is completely original condition from the seat covers, to the carpeting, door cards, top canvas, drapes, etc, etc, etc. This bus is in simply exceptional condition!!! The front windshield drapes are there as well as the side door drapes and bug screen!

I drove the “Westy” from Victoria to Spokane through the mountains on less than $100 worth of fuel. The engine starts instantly cold or warm, transmission shifts smooth, clutch take-up is both chatter and slip free, brake pedal modulation and feel is excellent, no steering play. The instrument lights are not working, I’ll look at those, already bought a new switch and the key for the water tank is missing, but, I’m working on that. Otherwise, everything works.

There is virtually no rust to speak of, no chassis rust what so ever ! The bus still has its original paint with the exception of the rear tail gate. The cabinets are clean and have no abrasions or damage of any kind. The Carpeting as like new as are the seats, etc. This thing is CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was just recently driven through the Cascade National Forest and it performed flawlessly! It was a pleasure to camp in, easy to drive, easy to park and has a great VW T3 bicycle rack. TRY FINDING ONE OF THOSE!!! 🙂

As an added bonus, the engine just received a comprehensive $5,300 rebuild (have receipt) and has less than 1,000 miles on it since. The front brake pads are new, the Yokohama tires nearly new as well.

Westy’s are getting nearly impossible to find in this condition and to restore one to this level would take THOUSANDS ! . Summer is here….travel to our National Parks, camp, fish, enjoy……Get in and go……
