Selling my 85 Westy with a newly rebuilt EJ22 engine.

I’m sad to see it go but it just doesn’t work for my young family. I bought it about a year ago with dreams of fixing it up and making it our own. About a month after I bought it the head gasket blew and I put about $5,000 into a new head gasket, rebuilt heads, timing kit, thermostat and a new custom built muffler. The engine work was done by One Van in S. Seattle. I have the receipts to prove it. The muffler was done by Kings in North Bend. That was basically all the money I was planning to put into the interior. This baby is all set up for a good long life. It does still need some cosmetic help on the interior, but the body is super clean.

The good:
Newly rebuilt EJ22 Subaru engine
New custom muffler, much quieter than the old one
New starter
Very clean exterior
Working fridge, stove and lots of storage
Swivel captains chairs
Sleeps 4 adults
New pop top fabric
Clean interior with some wear and tear, but no holes in the upholstery
Heater fan works great
Tow hitch
No leaks around roof vent
Window seals are in great shape
All lights and blinkers work
Custom scoops to get more air flowing to the radiator, could use a little improvement (imo)
Endless potential to make this your dream camper
5 good new tires, spare is full size
All doors lock, sliding door operates nicely

The bad:
Cracked windshield. Got a quote for $450 from Safelite
A couple very small rust spots on exterior
Cracked tail light cover
Previous owner installed LED lights on the interior. I disconnected them cause I planned to remove them, but never did. It’s not the cleanest work. They can be hooked back up.
Dash light is very weak and previous owner added weird blue lights
Speedometer isn’t accurate
Odometer doesn’t work, all new parts are available online. Has less than 300 miles on the newly rebuilt motor
No AC
Radio is not connected. Bluetooth speakers are the way to go
Driver door seal allows air through it at higher speeds, has a whistle. Door seals are easy to replace

This thing is about 90% on it’s way to being a beautiful trustworthy camper that’s ready to go anywhere. I don’t quite have the time to complete it. With a wife, small child and two dogs, it’s just a little too small for us. There are lots of resources and forums online for these beautiful machines. Tons of great information on how to make these better. If you’re willing to put in some time, you’ll have an amazing camper that’ll last a very long time.

Serious inquiries only. Please don’t waste your and my time. Thanks for checking it out. Let me know if you have any questions. Texting works great for me.
