1991 VW Vanagon.

Automatic, original engine 191K miles, purrs like a kitten. (when messaging: please prove you are an actual human)

This is Weekender converted for camping with added poptop. No stove or sink. We built a plywood shelf/dog nook and drawers for functional use of space. The van has a Solar panel, Yakama Rack, Rocket Box, Bike Rack, blackout curtains, Above the bed is another storage system for personal stuff. She has a classy Oak hardwood floor for entertaining.

History: My wife and I purchased this van in 2005 in Anchorage, Alaska from the 2nd owner. We immediately had a head gasket repaired then drove it down South to Arizona. The van was in dry storage there for a few years and used for sunny adventures. It then got shipped back up to Alaska and it has been our Anchorage and Girdwood day tripper and overnighter. It’s been garaged for the past 5 years.

Here’s a short list of what we have done to this rig:
Regular oil changes (with Bosh Filters), Tune ups with good plugs and replaced cables (2020)
Upgraded to 15” rims and tires, added 3rd break light, USB charger at map light, and lots of small tinkering like added climate control decal, peddle pads, etc. Over the years we have done 2 oil changes per year and a variety of necessary safety repairs (every Spring when she came out of storage).

Recently completed (5/23): Oil change, tune up, break tune up, new drivers side battery, rear CV joints replaced, replaced power steering and alternator belt. $2K of repairs.

Here’s a short list of known issues:
Like seemingly every Vanagon, there is an electrical leak that drains the main battery. Likely the solar charge controller.
The power steering pump has a small leak (but i keep checking, and there’s been no need to refill)
Drivers side window doesn’t work.
Poptop doesn’t work with Rocketbox on it
