This van is in Great condition.
The body is in good shape with very little rust. It drives good and strong. It’s definitely a lot of fun to drive. I got it a year and a half ago with the intention of building it out, but after measuring for the build it was just too small for 2 people, 2 dogs, and a cat to travel in, And I have decided to get something a little bigger. The guy I bought it from was a vw mechanic so it was kept in top running condition. He did a lot of work on it.
The engine was seized when he bought it, so he replaced the engine with one that had 70,000 miles on it and new head gaskets. The body has 115,000 miles and the engine has 80,000 miles. The mileage will go up as I am still driving it. Here’s a list of everything he rebuilt and replaced, The transmission, steering rack, front brakes and rotors, windshield, pioneer cd player with bluetooth, speakers, dash lighting, rear shocks, ac compressor/receiver dryer and condenser.
I had a lot of work done to at as well, as it was intended to travel with. Belts replaced on air conditioning, power steering, and water pump/alternator. Engine air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, Catalytic converter, distributor, distributor cap, distributor rotor, spark plugs, ignition coil, oxygen sensor, r&r coolant transfer pipes and reseal tank, rxr Coolant tower, rxr expansion tank. fuel tank re-seal with grommets, stainless steel coolant transfer pipes, aluminum expansion tank. Ground connections cleaned, replaced coolant lines, new battery, alternator, and engine bay wiring harness.
This van really does run great. It passed emissions with flying colors. The air conditioner works but needs to be recharged. The stereo system works great. Heater works great. It has a car alarm, the original camper curtains. I took out all the rear seats paneling and carpet, and sealed it all for building it out. I do not have the seats or paneling. I sold them because I didn’t need them. A lot of work has went into this van to make it run great. It is turn key and ready for the road, and would make an awesome camper van and adventure van. I put 20 pictures up with and with out camper curtains. Take a look. She’s very pretty.
