1987 2WD Manual Weekender Wolfsburg (no kitchen, sleeps 4, seats 6) Tough to let this go! This nostalgic jack-knife of vehicles was well loved and taken care of ($50K plus w/upgrades).
Recent engine conversion (Small car conversion kit with Subaru EJ 25 170 HP engine) Strong acceleration (engine runs best it ever has, tuned to perfection) Smooth shifting with Big Shot shifter. New 4th gear to maximize power and mpg’s in upgraded engine.
Excellent traction in snow/mud with Peloquin rear partial locking differential.
No AC. Vanagons are meant to be driven with windows down in summer. With rear engine, you’re front row to the open road. I drove it across the US last summer (everyone should do this IMHO)…amazing trip, in awe every day. Great air circulation with front triangular vent windows, multiple vents throughout- had dash fan for hot days. An AC upgrade kit is available for those that want it.
Many other upgrades:
Yakima roof rails and sky box
Sunbrella roof tent with side screens and Van Cafe heavy duty shock kit for easy lifting with roof weight
Van Cafe Pike’s peak bumpers- front bull bar and lights, hitch receivers front and rear
Van Cafe side ladder for roof access
Bilstein heavy duty shocks, Audi 5000 wheels with Toyo A/T Open Country tires
Solar panel kit with 110 hook up to Aux battery
Marine dual Battery charge maintainer
Front steel locker/console for computer and valuables
ARB side awning, front passenger seat swivel base
Marine interior lights (with white/red switch)
New interior stain resistant, plaid upholstery, carpet and tinted glass on all widows but front
All systems in working order- replaced exhaust, clutch, fuel lines, ignition, fan motor, coolant pipes, throttle cable, brakes, rear heater
Rear hatch bug screen and all curtains, cargo net for roof storage (rhino sealed)
Upgraded stereo- USB charge/play music (has remote)
Truck mirrors, LED headlights, front/rear dash cam
This unique, fully upgraded, nostalgic camper provided many awesome adventures. Lots of looks and appreciation from the road. I am selling to get a domestic van for long-term live/work. Happy to share paperwork and mechanic info.
*odmoeter was replaced, shows 24,500. 2000K on Subaru conversion and 250k on body. Minimal rust, in expected spots…overall, the body in great shape for its age. (See undercarriage pics)
