More Details & Pictures

’86 VW Full Camper in excellent running condition! Fully maintained, tons of new parts, ready to take on a a road trip exactly as it sits.

2.1 Liter, Auto Transmission. Approx. 123 lbs compression in all cylinders, runs like a champ.
Seats 5 (includes VERY rare center swiveling captains chair)
Sleeps 4 (can sleep 5 with optional front child’s cot)
Sink, stove, 3-way fridge, tables, swiveling chairs, curtains, mosquito screens, etc. all in excellent condition
Same owner last 18 years, meticulously maintained (oil changes, proper coolant, etc.)

Rebuilt trans & torque converter, new power steering rack, new German poptop canvas, air flow meter, wheel bearings, CV boots, tons of other new parts.
Just gone over top to bottom by a Vanagon specialist (Westy Motorwerks). Anything they said it needed, it got.

Just passed NC inspection last month (so it should easily pass PA inspection).

Lots of upgrades – Round E-code headlights, fridge mods, light duty hitch, dual battery system, etc.

Runs cool, temp gauge never goes above half way even in 95 degree weather.

Has factory A/C but it doesn’t work. (This is normal on these campers, even when it works it’s useless.)
Southern vehicle, solid, virtually no rust or dents. Was in Asheville NC last 18 years, and further south before that. Never saw a PA winter or road salt.

Paint is badly faded, chipped, etc. Will need paint if you want it to be a looker. That is the only reason it’s so cheap, would be $20k otherwise. Was quoted $2500 by a local auto body shop I trust to make it much nicer cosmetically even if not perfect.

Only other flaw is that the “low coolant” light blinks sometimes even though there is plenty of coolant. This appears to be a gauge issue as the sender seems good, there is coolant, and the engine is running cool. Oh, and also the stereo stopped working, it powers up but I can’t get it to play.

LOCAL BUYERS ONLY. Will not accept any payment by mail, Paypal, etc. Price is FIRM, this is a no-haggle opportunity. Sold as-is but please feel free to drive it, look it over, bring your mechanic friend, talk to the garage that serviced it, etc. I will be completely up front with everything I know about it, good and bad. This camper has lot of life left in it, would like to find it a good home. Thanks.
